Excavation Step by Step Process

ROUGH EXCAVATING
The excavator specializes in pools, that's all he does. Roll in the heavy-duty equipment; it's time to dig a big hole! In most cases, it will take about 1 1/2 working day to complete the excavation of your pool and remove the spoils from your yard. If you're interested in keeping some of the soil for other parts of your yard, just let him know prior to excavation. In cases where adequate access is not readily available, or on hillside sites that cannot be reached safely with heavy machinery, the pool has to be dug manually, which is an expensive but a safe and effective option.

Finishing
The backhoe or loader can cut only to within six inches of the pool perimeter; the final trim/shaping is done by hand.

For Gunite Pools, the finishing process is especially important. The shell follows the contours of the excavation, and errors in the finishing of the excavation will show up as errors in the finished pool.

A very clean excavation is very important. If the Pool is over dug or has excessive dirt removed this may increase the amount of Gunite needed during the Gunite process. In turn this will increase your Gunite bill.
